Why is the royal wedding being paid for by tax payer's money?
As a Canadian, I feel sorry for the British who have to pay for this with their taxes. I read that that the monarchy will actually cover some of the costs of the wedding, then I looked at what they were actually paying vs what the taxpayers will pay. 32 million in security paid with by taxpayers money, 2 million paid by the royal family. Does that seem fair?
There is also the issue of how much money employers, companies and the economy as a whole will lose because the government declared tomorrow to be a public holiday. Most people will still be working but the economy will still lose a lot as a result.
As for the supposed benefits of the royal wedding, they will be negligible outside London.
