Does anyone else think DVD Wide Screen Movies Suck?
I have a 67 inch Hitachi Tv set with surrround sound and i rent alot of DVD movies. I hate the wide screen format because 2/3'rds of my screen is black so i just dont understand what they are any good for.
Does anyone else dislike the wide screen format or am i alone ?
Thanx 10 points best answer
No, widescreen films are better. Full screen dvds cut off a significant portion of the sides of the screen. Whereas wide screen DVDs do not cut off any part of the original picture from the side OR THE TOP/BOTTOM. Just b/c their are black lines at the top of the bottom does not mean its cutting off the picture.
Widescreen DVDs ar how the movie is intended to be seen and how it is shown in theaters. Full screen DVDs are bastardized versions of the film that do not faithfully depict the filmmakers' vision of the movie. You would be surprised how much is missed by cutting off a few inches off the sides. Its not how it is supposed to be viewed. Full screen DVDs should not even exist.
And seriously, you have a 67" inch TV, does an inch or two of black lines really make the movie smaller enough to complain so much about it?
